Brittany Mullins is doing what she loves. Since she was a little girl, she has been fascinated with hair and hair styling.

“I love hair, makeup, and fashion,” she said. “I suppose it goes all the way back to playing with my Barbies.”

So it seemed natural for Brittany to finish high school and head for Rueben Allen Beauty School, where she graduated in 2004. Since then, she’s been happily busy as a stylist. “I enjoy every part of my job,” she said. “Color, styling, specialty–it’s all a blast.

Brittany encourages open communications with her clients. “I always want to do what’s best for each person, and that requires us both to understand what we’re trying to accomplish,” she said. “Some people will say, ‘do whatever,’ but I make sure we both know what that is. Other people may bring me photos or show me something online. We discuss things and then we make them happen.”

Often, that means ending with a “Wow!” from her clients.

“The other day, a girl comes in and her hair is all one color. We collaborated on some ideas and came up with ombre ballyage highlights that just blew her away,” Brittany said. “That always makes my day.”

A native of Coalfield, Brittany is mother to 12 year old twins (boy and girl), an eight year old boy, and stepmother to a five year old girl. So there’s plenty of excitement away from work, too.
